Founding Volunteers
Friends of Batahola Volunteers was founded in 2007 by Laura Hopps (L) and Christine Ruppert (R), graduates of Boston College and the Casa de la Solidaridad program in El Salvador. They continue their commitment to working for social change. Christine is currently engaged in family support for Latina mothers in Washington, D.C., helping women access healthcare and social services for themselves and their families. Laura is studying at Harvard Divinity School focusing on Buddhism, activism, and counseling, and working at a community center for people living with HIV/AIDS.
