Support for Friends of Batahola Volunteers
The VMM, a non-profit organization, is helping to support us during our time in Nicaragua. VMM's mission is to support to volunteers who accompany communities and promote "peace, social justice, and human empowerment of the poor and marginalized." VMM volunteers collaborate to "promote equality, empower sustainable human development, and challenge unjust and oppressive social structures."
VMM provides volunteers with:
- Medical and life insurance, including 3 months of medical insurance after completion of service
- Monthly stipend
- Pre-departure orientation
- Visa expenses
- Spanish language training
- Annual retreats with other volunteers in Central America
- Re-entry stipend upon completion of service
